There are 2 Constance resorts in the Maldives, both of them excellent but each of them very different to the other, and appealing to quite different needs and tastes. The Halaveli is the top-end option – an ultra-luxurious chic and sophisticated option for clients looking for a superbly finished product. The other, Moofushi, takes a more rustic and “barefoot luxury” approach and is ultimately the better choice for people looking for a more casual and relaxed resort.
The 6-star positioning of Halaveli is immediately noticeable when looking at the resort’s 86 stunning villas which are all superbly luxurious with clean modern styling – every room type also boasts their own gorgeous private plunge pools! Interestingly the 57 Water Villas are the entry-level room type at Halaveli, an unusual situation simply because they are smaller internally (yet still extremely spacious) than the frankly huge beach villas, of which there are a number of different types for you to choose from: namely 10 Beach Villas, 10 Family Beach Villas, 8 even larger Double Storey Beach Villas and ending off with the lavish Presidential Beach Villa. Inspired by traditional dhoni fishing boats, the styling of the villas combines chic tropical style with cutting-edge technology: iPod docks, mini iMacs with a seemingly endless selection of free movies for children and adults, free WiFi and plasma televisions, Nespresso machines are just some of the features you’ll enjoy.
Somewhat unusually given that Halaveli is an unabashedly top-end resort, it caters brilliantly to kids and makes for a superb family holiday destination. Youngsters will love fighting over the bunk beds in the Family Beach Villas (we would suggest the larger Double Storey Beach Villas for teenagers) and parents will love having a few blissful hours of togetherness as the kids head off to the excellent Constance Kids Club. There are even mini bath robes and slippers for the little ones as well as child friendly dishes available at the restaurants.
Speaking of restaurants, this is another area where Halaveli really hits the spot – and very unusually (and most welcome) for a top end resort in the Maldives, it offers a superb All-Inclusive package! The even better news is that this All-Inclusive package is absolutely top notch – for example, rather than being limited to a choice of a couple of mediocre house wines, at Halaveli you have an extensive selection of quality wines from around the world to explore during your stay (with a friendly sommelier to help guide you along the way!)
Dining options include the main restaurant, Jahaz, offering international buffet-style cuisine with regular themed evenings and which has a refined interior dining area as well as an extensive outside area where you can eat with your toes in the sand; a speciality overwater restaurant, Jing, serving a creative Asian fusion menu; Meeru, a relaxed, al fresco beach grill offering a selection of fresh seafood; and sushi lovers will go crazy for the sandy floored but elegant Kaiku Sushi Bar. Each of the restaurants also has its own sommelier. Two bars – one poolside, one over water along the jetty – provide ideal locations to enjoy a sundowner or decadent cocktails late into the evening.
The resort has an overwater U Spa, where the treatments make use of handcrafted Ila, Valmont and signature Spa de Constance products; and a fitness center and tennis courts where active types can squeeze in their daily workout. There’s a pool, of course although many will choose to laze around their own private pools. The stunning white sand beach is also an attrctive option studded with oversize bean bags or why not leave the beach and enjoy some superb snorkelling on the house reef, or head to the dive centre for access to excellent diving – including four protected marine areas – nearby. Then there’s a extensive range of watersports available, from jet skis to waterskiing, wake boarding to banana boats. Whether you want to chill out or have a fun-filled holiday full of activities, Halaveli is the perfect resort to enjoy it in superb style!
